Scott Starkweather - a highly experienced & client-focused website developer. Aiming for excellence via vanilla code and well-honed technique. WordPress & Gutenberg expertise but happy to work in most any modern website technology stack.

My technology stack includes: Semantic HTML5, vanilla CSS, vanilla PHP, vanilla JS, jQuery, React JS, and SQL. I treat WCAG as a must and use WCAG 2.2 as my guidelines for technical SEO. Core Web Vitals are my benchmark for page speed, and I use Lighthouse to optimize for speed.

    - A client since 2015, Air Squared represents one of the more complicated and robust websites I have built.

        - **2015:** Website fixes and improvements to an existing WordPress website

        - **2016:** Website rebuild matching look feel while expanding and correcting functionality - moving from off-the-shelf theme to custom

        - **2021:** Website rebuild with an expanded sitemap, added functionality and an entirely new design

        - **Today:** I actively support the website and we continuously work toward improvements and enhancements.

    - A client since 2015, Uptown is an excellent example of how a quality website drives results.

        - **2015:** Website fixes and improvements to an existing HTML website

        - **2016:** Website migration from static HTML to WordPress while maintaining look and feel, and existing functionality

        - **2022:** Website rebuild with added functionality, an entirely new design and the blog re-imagined as a learning center

        - **Today:** I actively support the website and we continuously work toward ultimate quality and performance.

    - A relatively new collaboration, Competency & Credentialing Institute represents one of the more technically challenging projects I have taken on. 

    - Client Timeline:

        - **2025:** Website rebuild moving from Beaver Builder to Gutenberg, while maintaining look and feel. Functionality was greatly improved and in the case of the coaches map - created anew

        - **Today:** I support the website in a technical role while the client handles day to day maintenance.

    - A client since 2019, this non-profit website showcases a membership and donation engine via WooCommerce.

        - **2019:** Website rebuild, moving from a basic page-builder to WordPress via an off the shelf theme. This iteration focused on increasing functionality by way of facilitating memberships and donations via WooCommerce

        - **2022:** Website rebuild, moving the site into a custom WordPress theme and a semi-custom design

        - **2025:** Website rebuild, bringing the brand to a new level via a new and more sophisticated custom design

        - **Today:** I actively support the website, in particular, during the group's mission-critical annual convention.

- The Monroe Group, Steele Properties, and Community Housing Concepts

    - A client since 2016, this group of projects represents the largest volume of work done for a single client.

        - **2016:** Basic website fixes to all three main sites as well as a private employee portal

        - **2017:** Website rebuilds of The Monroe Group, Steele Properties, and Community Housing Concepts, moving all three sites from static HTML to WordPress. Look and feel generally matched the previous websites but moved to a more modern, but intentionally temporary design.

        - **2018:** Website rebuilds of The Monroe Group, Steele Properties, and Community Housing Concepts utilizing new, more comprehensive designs. Major improvement includes an interactive map of properties for each website.

        - **2018:** An "Around the World" challenge website app that allowed employees to track the number of miles walked, as part of a collaborative goal of walking enough miles to circumnavigate the globe.

        - **2017 through 2023:** Creation of approximately 85 microsites - one per property. This marketing experiment, although highly effective, was ultimately decommissioned by the client and wound down.

        - **2016 through 2021:** A complete rebuild and multiple re-imaginings of the employee portal finally reaches completion and is launched after more than 4 years of back-burner progress.

        - **2024:** Website rebuilds of The Monroe Group, Steele Properties, Community Housing Concepts and the employee portal. This round of rebuilds moved the websites from Visual Composer and into the Gutenberg editor.

        - **Today:** I actively support the websites via basic updates and targeted site improvements.

    - A client since 2016, Phillips Legal PC is a good example of how a one-page website can be effective.

        - **2016:** A brand new website build, in WordPress utilizing a semi-custom approach. An HTML5 template was purchased, customized, and then chopped into a WordPress theme.

        - **2023:** A website rebuild maintaining look and feel, as well as functionality but now in a fully custom theme and utilizing the Gutenberg editor.

        - **Today:** The client primarily self-maintains the website while I provide technical oversight.
